& Child Health Product Pvt. Ltd (MCHP) is a women-owned and
operated private sector tax paying company committed to improve
the lives of Nepalese women and children. Founded in July 1994
to assemble and coordinate the distribution and marketing of Clean
Home Delivery Kit, the company has since expanded its activities
to include the research and development of other consumer products
and training aids which impact women and children. MCHP focuses
on women and children as too often they form the most marginalized
and disadvantaged groups in Nepali society. Improving women’s
and children’s health allows them to make contributions,
which benefit the whole society. MCHP is proud of taking the leadership
role that is helping to promote a strong & healthy future
for all Nepali people.
Maternal
and Child Health Product Pvt. Ltd. is committed to change the
bleak conditions of women and children in Nepal. Thus Nepal has
one of the highest infant & maternal mortality & morbidity
rate in the world. It is estimated that more than 800,000 babies
born in Nepal every year. Among them around 81,000 dies with the
first year of life mainly due to unclean birth practices under
unhygienic conditions. Most of the neonatal & maternal deaths
have been directly attributed to tetanus & sepsis. Other need
lessly die from diseases which can be easily prevented. More than
90% survive the difficult conditions of Nepal’s rural areas.
Thus this company is committed to research and develop products
and provide training aids which directly impact the health of
Nepali women and children. The first product developed by the
company was Clean Home Delivery Kit (CHDK) Nepali Name is Sutkeri
Samagri. This simple medical intervention is saving the lives
of Nepali women and children by creating a clean delivery environment
at home replacing the traditional way which was unhygienic. MCHP
has been manufacturing CHDK since 1994 and sold more than 800,000
kits in Nepal and Bhutan. The demand for the kit continues to
increase. This kit has a real impact on change delivery practices
and also to improve health care in Nepal.
